Finance officials from two of fast developing countries are to advise senior representatives of the private and public sector about how Jamaica’s economy can be improved. The Caribbean Research Policy Institute (CaPRI) has partnered with the World Bank to host the Minister of Finance for The Seychelles, Pierre Laporte, and Financial Secretary for Mauritius, Ali Michael Mansoor, in Jamaica. They are to participate in a dinner roundtable meeting with senior public and private sector officials in New Kingston next week Tuesday. The theme of the roundtable meeting is ‘From Austerity to Prosperity: Lessons from the Seychelles and Mauritius’. Both countries recorded more than 4 per cent Gross domestic product (GDP) growth last year. CaPRI said their experiences are particularly instructive as both countries have many similarities with Jamaica.
