Climate Change researchers have constantly predicted a rise in the frequency and intensity of hydro-meteorological activities, including storms in the Caribbean. Jamaica’s recent experiences with more intense and more frequent high magnitude storms appears to validate these predictions. After a prolonged period of relative inactivity prior to the 1980s the island has experienced increased numbers of high magnitude storms and extended periods of high intensity rainfalls.
