Social partnership has emerged as a means for countries to cope with harsh economic circumstances. However, its success lies, not just in concluding the partnership, but in sustaining it as well. Jamaica has done neither. In these challenging times, it seems ideal to explore the causes for failure and strategies for successful social partnership(s). In this paper, we survey the experiences of other countries with social partnership agreements, including Ireland, the forerunner.
