A high perception of corruption in Jamaica exists, both locally and internationally as the country consistently performs poorly on global corruption indices, with other governance indicators citing corruption as a major problem for the country.
CAPRI, in partnership with USAID-NIA, and with Ms. Desiree Phillips as the Lead Researcher, is undertaking a study seeking to identify innovations which can help combat pervasive corruption in the country. Polls done domestically indeed reveal that corruption is shown to exist at all levels of the society, across several public institutions, especially the police and customs.
CAPRI’s study will review innovations used to strengthen integrity in countries around the world, with a view to recommending one such innovation to strengthen Jamaica's own integrity.
