Thematic Area:

Within the next decade “technological change will revolutionize the energy sector, undermining current assumptions and conventional wisdom.” This will mean utility-controlled fossil fuel-based electricity will no longer be the de facto power source. In order to take advantage of international expertise and funding mechanisms associated with this energy revolution, Caribbean governments need to act quickly and reposition their energy and economic policies. To expedite policy discussions, CaPRI explores various mechanisms for mobilizing financial resources for renewable energy investments. At the same time, it is clear that Caribbean governments will need to be proactive with such initiatives if these opportunities are not to pass us by.
