Reyna Samuels

Reyna currently leads research on the Open Government initiative and Open Budget Survey for Jamaica. She has also completed research on the regulation of cryptocurrency in Jamaica, and this saw her developing a regulatory framework for Jamaica by assessing current regulatory responses in jurisdictions around the world.

Reyna previously worked at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank in St Kitts and Nevis where she conducted research on areas that would improve economic growth within the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU). She also served as a lecturer at UWI, Mona’s Summer School, and as a Tutor in Introductory Statistics, Intermediate Macroeconomics II, Social and Economic Accounting and Statistical Computing at the Academic Support Unit and the Department of Economics on the UWI Mona campus.

Reyna earned a M.Sc. in Economics (dist.) along with a B.Sc. in Banking and Finance and Economics, all from the University of the West Indies, Mona. She is a CFA Level 1 2019 Candidate.
